Chris defends companies, public sector bodies
and individuals in investigations by the police, HSE, Environment
Agency or local authorities following fatal or serious accidents in
the workplace and on the road. He deals exclusively with regulatory
prosecutions, getting involved immediately following an accident or
adverse pollution incident, advises as to the investigation
and represents clients at arrest, inquest, interview and in
court. He has been involved in a number of manslaughter
investigations and prosecutions. A former regulatory prosecutor, he
helps clients with procedures to avoid accidents and speaks to
various professional bodies on safety issues (IOSH, ROSPA and the
BSC). He delivers training to boards of directors on their own
responsibilities for regulatory compliance and drafts procedures
and management protocols to respond to major incidents and lectures
on corporate manslaughter and occupational road risk.
Described by Chambers (2003) as a "leading
prosecutions lawyer", he is ranked in both the Chambers Legal
Directory and the Legal 500. In 2009 he is rated as one of the
North West’s Top 50 legal advisors. Clients describe his “faultless
and tireless” approach to finding solutions for them.
