Banking and private equity

Advice on transactional and secured lending for banks and other funders, private equity investments and funding arrangements for public and private sector businesses.

Debt and investment financing arrangements can take many forms, but they have one thing in common from the point of view of the parties involved: the need for expert professional support and guidance at the highest level. This means not only providing the best advice but also managing the process in the most efficient and productive way.

Weightmans' Banking and Private Equity team has gained a strong reputation for managing complex transactions on behalf of banks and other financial institutions, as well as securing bank and funding facilities for corporate bodies and public organisations.

We act for a number of investment funds, lending institutions and high net worth individuals, providing advice on equity investments and other funding arrangements, including preparing and negotiating investment agreements and other funding documentation.

We specialise in arrangements involving debt finance for working capital and corporate transactions, including advice on terms offered by lending institutions, security requirements and compliance matters in private equity deals. We also carry out due diligence procedures with lending transactions, review transactional documents and deal with subordination and prioritisation of other debt and security.

As a client, our chief concern is to help you achieve a successful outcome to every transaction, both in terms of financial return and administrative efficiency. We place great emphasis on developing good working relationships with you, your clients and investee companies, and bring in additional support from our own property team when secured lending is involved.

Our clients include AIB Group, Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest Bank, Bank of Ireland, Finance Wales and Merseyside Special Investment Fund.
