Law firm raises £25,000 for GOSH

Law firm Weightmans has raised £25,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The donation will pay for a new Vital Signs Monitor - a machine measuring and displaying heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure - for the hospital's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Weightmans has a long standing association with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity with the firm's staff previously taking part in a number of fundraising initiatives including the Great Wall of China Trek. The firm's donation of £25,000 was raised through a charity dinner at the HAC in London.

Great Ormond Street Hospital treats many thousands of patients each year - children who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions.

The Hospital for Sick Children, as it was known at the time, first opened its doors at 49 Great Ormond Street on Valentine's Day 1852 with ten beds. In 2002, the hospital celebrated its 150th anniversary with a year of commemorative and fundraising events supported by Victoria Beckham, HM The Queen and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Said Ian Evans, senior partner at Weightmans:

"Great Ormond Street Hospital treats many thousands of patients each year and depends on continuous fundraising to ensure it remains a world class hospital. We are very proud to play a small part in this."
